Artists attack | Offscreen
Vampires descend upon a troupe of ballerinas, a Japanese pop star is stalked by a sadistic fan: artists everywhere are in danger!
Renato Polselli's "L'Amante del vampiro" ("The Vampire and the Ballerina") is one of the first Italian Gothic horror films, released the same year as Mario Bava's "La Maschera del demonio" ("Black Sunday") and directed by one of the most original authors of Italian B-movies with a screenplay by the prolific Ernesto Gastaldi ("The Whip and the Body").
"Perfect Blue" is the first feature-length animated film by the God of Manga, Satoshi Kon, who died before his time in 2010. This incredible filmmaker inspired many great contemporary American directors (Darren Aronofsky for "Black Swan", Christopher Nolan for "Inception") and with this film, delivers a Polanski-esque "Giallo-Manga" masterpiece.
The Vampire and the Ballerina
