Christopher Lee | Offscreen
A special B-to-Z double bill, as part of the Christopher Lee retrospective, with two films featuring Christopher Lee as Count Dracula.
The British Hammer studio became famous for its updates on the Universal horror classics from the 1930's. Several of these were directed by Terence Fisher. In the late 60's, sequels of the films were produced at a steady pace, thus allowing new film makers to take their place in the director's seat.
"Dracula has Risen from the Grave" was the fourth episode in a series of no less than nine titles on the horrific Count. It can be seen as both the last of the classics, and first of the modern Dracula films. Freddie Francis directed this atmospheric film, while Christopher Lee once again sharpened his fangs. "Taste the Blood of Dracula" is the fifth film of the cycle, and the fourth in which Christopher Lee played the role of Bram Stoker's Count of darkness.
Dracula has risen from the grave
After a young woman is found murdered, a priest makes his way to the castle of the Prince of darkness and by accident wakes him from his slumber. Fourth film of Hammer's Dracula series, partly horrific and sensuous.
Taste the Blood of Dracula
In a macabre ceremony, a group of three distinguished gentlemen manage to bring Dracula back to life. They are aided by a devil worshipping Lord, whom they promptly kill in their panic. Dracula vows to avenge the murder of his disciple.
