CINEMA BIS BELGE: DEUS LO VOLT | Offscreen
Under the banner Cinéma Bis Belge Offscreen presents an annual focus on a Belgian filmmaker, producer, or distributor specialising in B-movies, exploitation, or genre cinema.
This year, we focus on Luc Monheim (1941-1986), a sculptor and art director who also directed three films, including Deus lo volt.
There are two versions of this unique crusader epic: one from 1976, with which Monheim was not entirely satisfied, and a second from 1978, for which he filmed additional scenes and created a new soundtrack. This version was recently restored by Cinematek and can finally be (re)discovered in this premiere!
DEUS LO VOLT
28 March 2026 - 19h00 | Cinematek
A crusader wanders through the desert in search of a final resting place and reflects on his past sins. Luc Monheim contemplates the moral consequences of religious fanaticism in tableaux that are alternately raw and meditative. This astonishingly medieval-looking Calvary was filmed entirely in Belgium!
