Continuing the project begun when the ABC cinema was shuttered in 2013, Nova marks the onset of autumn by celebrating the publication of Jimmy Pantera's book "Cinéma ABC, la nécropole du porno" from CFC Editions. Packed with interviews and archive footage about the last porn cinema in Brussels, the book draws on all the documents and information Nova has been collecting and conserving since 2014. 

We are also delighted to welcome Jean-François Davy for a timely screening of one of his classic documentaries about the world of adult filmmaking.

CONTINUOUS SHOW 

A Saturday afternoon’s light entertainment beneath the sign of the ABC cinema.

Between 3pm and 6pm, curious souls can pop into the cinema to discover some of the reels rescued by Nova from the ABC collection. And in traditional ABC style, titles of the films and trailers will not be announced, nor can we guarantee they’ll be in pristine condition... So prepare to be surprised! 

Jimmy Pantera's book will also be available in the bar where the author will be happy to meet you. 

Free access to the screening at all times, subject to available space in compliance with ABC standards of distancing and hygiene - but updated in accordance with current measures!

THE NECROPOLIS OF PORN

BOOK LAUNCH

With the author and his editors, we will be exploring the history of the ABC cinema, the recovery of its archives, and the story behind the book. In addition to this discussion, we will be showing hitherto unseen images of a short impromptu tour by the owner, as well as testimonials from some of the cinema’s fans.

"Les Pornocrates", following on from the celebrated "Exhibition" directed by Jean-François Davy one year earlier, goes full-on gonzo (incorporating interviews with actresses who have their mouths full...) as, with a delightfully light touch, it provides a behind-the-scenes peek at the world of 70s adult filmmaking: the contracts, lifestyles, dubbing, publicity...
